Our with Old (and rotted)

The plywood under the companion way hatch was in pretty bad shape. I had this idea that I’d remove all the teak and replace the plywood. After reinstalling the teak, it’d be good as new! The problem was it took a special tool to break through it — namely my foot. I guess using epoxy resin to glue the teak strips on wasn’t condusive to easy removal. Live and learn.

This weekend, however, things progressed nicely. I’d spent the past two weeks carefully milling about $500 worth of teak planks into 19 small little strips to use as replacements. Turned out pretty well so far.

Underlayment installed.

Almost done.

First coat of varnish going on to seal everything up.

End of the day today.

Still a lot to do, but coming along nicely.

Fair winds!
